Destructoid writer but not X-Files creator Chris Carter (who is probably incredibly bored of that reference) has been doing a bit of maths, which immediately makes him a more capable human being than I am. The purpose of this mathleticism was to collate all the disparate bits of DLC, pre-order bonus, unlocks and whatnot available for the upcoming marketing monolith that is Mass Effect 3, and just how much it’d cost someone to lay hands on the whole shebang. It must, however, be pointed out that much of that horror-price stems from having to buy bonus code-sporting hardware such as special gamepads, keyboards and headsets, or Mass Effect 3 merch such as multiple action figures and iPhone cases.
And most of what it gets you in-game is just weapon variations, skins and multiplayer unlocks, rather than ‘real’ content. Not stuff you’ll actually need, in other words, depending on how much you care about being King Big Balls in multiplayer. Apparently, each additional code you get for the Collector’s Assault Rifle (available with assorted Razer hardware) further boosts its power in multiplayer, which makes for a fairly vague concept of completism and presumably suffers from diminishing returns.
Even so – this is a sign of just how darkly convoluted and fragmented modern gaming purchases have become. The full breakdown of all the DLC and the necessary purchases is over yonder.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 aren't Origin exclusives, thankfully. But ME3 might pose a problem, since EA seems loathe to release any Origin exclusive for distribution by a third party, and even the DVD version requires Origin to be installed. Also, the Galactic Readiness component of ME3 needs to be disabled (i.e always set to 100%, or modified by in-game actions) in order for it to work well offline or when EA inevitably shuts down the servers. Still, if GOG could work out a deal with EA for the Collector's Edition of all the games, to disable the Origin integration and make all other online components optional, it would be an insta-buy.
I think the multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 is good, and have enjoyed playing it many times. Having said that, I would actually prefer dropping the multiplayer aspect of ME3 to get a truly DRM free Mass Effect trilogy here, with all DLC included. My reason for wanting it DRM free is so that I can reply it again 10 years from now if I wish, long after the servers have been shut down. Just make sure the galactic readiness component is removed. Day one GOG purchase for me, just like with Dragon Age Origins. <br />

I'm certain GOG would definitely do this and we would definitely buy all the games. But I don't think EA would allow this.

Honestly, an actual complete Mass Effect trilogy collection with all the DLC would be a big deal, even moreso with it all being DRM-free! The game series is moving on and these are now (arguably with ME3) classics that deserve a bit of GOG'ness. While the new series of games is having its multitude of problems, let us look back fondly on what made the name.

Zaphero, Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe edition is free on origin now. They give Mass Effect 2 for free, but the dlc's are included.
Currently you have to like.. buy Mass Effect 1 on Steam or origin, go to the Bioware website and individually buy the Dlc, then buy Mass Effect 2 on Steam or origin (ignore the deluxe edition it's just an artbook), go to the bioware website and buy the DLC there, and finally bow to EA and buy Mass Effect 3 on origin and buy the DLC off of the Bioware website!!! I'M NOT GOING TO GET INTO A SERIES THAT IS CONSUMER UNFRIENDLY POLICIES LIKE THIS!!!
